You can raft on the Cusipata (1 or 2 days) or Apirumac
river (3 days).
The program for the 1 and 2 day rafting on the Cusipata river:
Day 1
You will be picked up at your hotel, after a one and a half-hours drive
you'll arrive to the put -in at the shores of the upper Urubamba River,
also called Cusipata. The guides will give you a safety talk and provide
you with all the proper equipment for rafting. You will be floating for
approximately two and half-hours, running class II and III, introductory
type rapids. Afterwards, you'll arrive to the take-out, a short bus ride
will bring you back to the place where you got in. Here a lunch will be
served. The return to Cusco should be around 5.00 pm.
Day 2 (optional)
After a night sleep under the whisper of the river, you will have a
breakfast and drive up river for a second day white water rafting. Today
you will be doing class III and IV rapids. You will spend about two and
half-hours in the water arriving later at the camp where you slept earlier.
A lunch will be served and you should be back in Cusco around 5:00 pm.
The program for the Apirumac river 3 days / 2nights:
This river is rated among the ten best rafting trips in the world. You
need some experience for this.
Day 1
At 9:00 you'll leave from Cusco and drive for 4 hours through the Andes
to the put-in point at Huallpachaca bridge at an altitude of 2000 meters.
You will be given a safety briefing, explaining different rafting techniques
and safety procedures. The instructors will put emphasis on training all
the participants, especially on paddling techniques, how to get back into
the raft, responses to a raft flip, how to safely swim a rapid.etc.
You will raft for 2 or 3 hours, including Class II and III rapids. After
this you will camp.
You can also choose to raft a higher class section, rapids III and IV+.
Day 2
After breakfast you'll start rafting around 10:00am. You will be in
the water for about 4,5 hours doing mostly class III and IV rapids. You
will stop for a short lunch and arrive to the camp between 15:00 and 16:00.
Today you’ll sleep on a sandy beach.
Day 3
After breakfast you'll raft through a couple of class IV rapids. After
3 or 4 hours of rafting you will arrive for lunch at the take-out point
where you can use the toilets and showers. Then you'll get back to Cusco
arriving around 18:00.
