Described here is the 3 day / 2 nights tour. However it
is possible to visit the Manu reserve for 2 days / 1 night up to 5 days
/ 4 nights. Just write us about your wishes.
Day 1
A short flight takes you from Cusco into the lowlands of the Amazon jungle
to Puerto Maldonado. From here you travel by motorized canoe into the
Tambopata Forest Reserve. During the trip you will see caimans, turtles,
herons and other species of animals along the riverbanks. At lunch time
you'll arrive at the lodge. With a guide you'll visit "Monkey Island".
You will observe a scenery with lively flora that shelters a tremendous
variety of monkeys, such as the Black Spider Monkey, Capuchin Monkey,
Squirrel Monkey and the South American Coati, as well as a number of bird
species. You will complete your visit to Monkey Island by enjoying the
sunset, and then returning to the Lodge for dinner.
Day 2
After breakfast you begin your guided tour through the virgin rainforest
on foot to the Lost Cocha. The Lost Cocha is a protected ecosystem sustaining
an immense variety of animals such as giant otters, caimans, turtles,
Brazilian tapirs called sachavacas, colorful birds, jaguars,
and diverse fish species. This area is contains immense swamps and marshes.
Next you will arrive at the Amazon Watch Tower, built at the top of an
immense tree from which you can appreciate the full and magical beauty
of the rainforest. You will also go for a canoe ride around the lake,
after which you will return to the Lodge for lunch. In the afternoon there
is another canoe trip down the river to visit a local family living in
the rainforest. Finally, you will return to the Lodge for dinner.
Day 3
After breakfast you will return to the Puerto Maldonado airport for your
flight to Cusco.
If you want a 4th day, you will visit the Gamitana and Briolo rivers.
These rivers are born from virgin forest forming impressive snake-like
channels, through which you will travel by canoe while appreciating animals
at only an arm’s length. You will also have the opportunity to fish and
swim in the crystalline waters of the Gamitana River.
On an optional 5th day you will hike into the depths of the Amazon rainforest
via specially prepared trails and bridges. During the walk you will see
the Cave of the Caimans. Continuing on, you will arrive at the majestic
Lake Apu Victor – a lake of crystalline waters surrounded by immense swamps
and gigantic trees.
